The best beaches and coves in Calella de Palafrugell

Canadell Beach

Canadell beach is small and  familiar. It is about two hundred meters long and about twenty-seven wide. Its access is very easy, and it is possible to access it both on foot, by vehicle or even by public transport. You can stay in one of Casa Concha’s apartments in Calella de Palafrugell. One of the main attractions of the beach is its promenade. Perfectly conditioned, it offers the visitor views of the houses, some of them centuries old, like writer’s house Josep Pla, which belonged to his family where they and enjoyed the summer.

Port-Bo Beach
Port Bo or Platja de les Barques is the one that is located in the middle of the continuity of beaches that form together the Platja d’en Calau and Malaespina beach. It is known because every summer the Habaneras de Calella de Palafrugell song is celebrated, very popular in Catalonia. The small rocky reefs between the sea and the sand create different environments. It is also very typical the small fishing boats on the shore that make a beautiful postcard.         


The Platgeta
La Platgeta, a beach that due to its location has little waves, sandy bottoms and crystalline waters, and thick sand of an intense golden color, an urban beach in the heart of Calella de Palafrugell frequented more by locals. We can see the arched doors of small warehouses that were formerly used by the local fishermen to store their belongings and their barges, today they are used for tourism. This beach is ideal for families with children due to its low waves and depth, but it is so small that it is advisable to go early to be able to find a spot to lay the towel.



Port Pelegri

Easy access on foot or by bus. It has showers, a diving school and a restaurant on the shore. El Port Pelegrí beach is located at the southern end of the urban center of Calella de Palafrugell. It is surrounded by small cliffs and there is a family atmosphere. It has a length of about seventy meters by twenty meters wide. The sand is also thick , and the seabed is sandy for the first few meters and then becomes rocky. The entry into the sea is somewhat steep.



Sant Roc o Els Canyers

Another small urban beach in Calella de Palafrugell is Sant Roc or Els Canyers. It is a beach of only forty meters in length, dotted with numerous rocks, so it is difficult to find space to lay the towel. Of course, its crystal clear waters and location make it worthwhile. Access is through circular stairs that descend from a viewpoint where we will enjoy an exceptional panoramic view of the Calella bay.




Its eighty meters long by twenty meters wide are the perfect place to enjoy nature, the sun and the sea. The first thing that will catch our attention upon arrival will be the huge rock on one of its sides and the incredible color palette of its surroundings: the red of the rocks, the gold of the pebbles that make up the beach, the green of the trees of the Cap Roig Botanical Garden and the splendid turquoise blue of the sea make up a landscape as picturesque as it is difficult to forget.
