COSTA BRAVA
Stunning cliffs, golden sandy beaches, coves and typical Mediterranean landscapes form the most emblematic postcard of the Costa Brava, in Girona. It is without a doubt one of the most beautiful places in Catalonia and Spain.
Here the traveler will find from ancient fishing villages with a marine flavor to medieval inland villages or the impressive legacy of the artist Salvador Dalí. It is best to drive around the area quietly and stop at every corner.
EMPORDANET
It was Josep Pla who named this portion of the Baix Empordà as l’Empordanet, a proud landscape under the protection of the Montgrí, between medieval villages and beautiful fields.
The landscapes of the Empordanet, very close to the beaches of the Costa Brava, still retain the charm of their roots.
One possible route is to visit its medieval villages, authentic places of tranquility. You can start in Pals, with a Gothic core located at the top of a hill from where you can see a unique landscape, and visit the Romanesque tower of the old medieval castle (11th and 12th centuries). The route continues through Peratallada, probably the most visited village in the whole region, Vulpellac, La Bisbal d’Empordà, famous for its ceramics and Fonteta, and Monells, one of the most beautiful villages in the whole region.
GIRONA
The so-called “City of the Four Rivers”, the provincial capital, shows us a historic quarter dominated by medieval constructions and reminiscences of Roman, Arab and Hebrew. A magical and cosmopolitan city ideal for shopping and getting lost in its streets full of history.
Its historic center or Barri Vell is delimited in the east by the Paseo de la Muralla, the round path of the old Carolingian walls (9th century) and the Lower Middle Ages (14th and 15th centuries). Among its monuments are the Call, an old Jewish quarter, one of the best preserved in Spain; as well as the colorful Casas del Oñar, built on the banks of said river and very close to the cathedral, with the widest nave in the world in Gothic style.
GASTRONOMY
In the Empordà, you will find authentic and fresh cuisine. The essence of Mediterranean cuisine. Traditional and at the same time creative.
During your stay, you will discover the uniqueness of our Ampurdan cuisine by visiting restaurants that offer dishes made with local products, a local specialty dessert and a wine with DO Empordà, served with ceramic dishes from La Bisbal.
You’ll suck your fingers!
